Greenville Forward

Greenville Forward's mission is to enhance the quality of life for greater Greenville by engaging citizens in continually updating, promoting, and facilitating a community vision for 2025 and beyond.

Vision 2025 dares to imagine a community whose growth is fueled by creativity, ignited by the power of ideas, and fired by the goal of excellence. Vision 2025 is just a glimpse into the future of Greenville. It's a commitment to improving our community to match the changing times around us.

Plan It Survey

Greenville Plan It Resident Survey .
Greenville Forward and the City of Greenville partnered to conduct a comprehensive survey of 700 Greenvillians to explore the opinions of residents. The survey is part of the 10 year comprehensive planning process.

Race Matters

Race Matters Survey.
In 1948, Greenville conducted a study of the state of race relations in Greenville. In partnership with Beyond Differences and other organizations, Greenville Forward conducted a replication of this study, with some additions, to explore how race relations have changed in Greenville County over the generations. Dialogues about the findings are happening in the next few months. Although race relations have improved, we still have some work to do.

Economic Health

Economic Scorecard.
Greenville Forward partnered with the Greenville Chamber of Commerce and others to sponsor the Clemson Upstate Economic Scorecard. Compared to peer and aspirant communities, Greenville's per capita income is not growing as rapidly.

Civic Engagement Survey

Civic Engagement Survey.
Greenville has a strong history of giving. In partnership with the Non-Profit Alliance, Greenville Forward conducted a survey among Greenville businesses on volunteerism to better understand Greenville's philanthropic community. Some of the results may surprise you. Download the report.

Talent Retention

South Carolina Student Retention Survey.
We conducted a study of almost 1,900 juniors and seniors in nine South Carolina universities. We learned that 50% of our students expect to leave the state after graduation. This is a large file, so the download takes some time.

Project Progress

Greenville Forward Project Progress,
Much has been accomplished since Vision 2025 was released three years ago. See where Greenville stands in its goal to accomplish the many projects mentioned in Vision 2025. The report will be updated periodically as one of the collection of "reports cards" on Vision progress.

Greenville Forward Annual Report,
2007 was a busy and productive year for Greenville Forward. The 2006 annual report outlines many of the 2006 Greenville Forward first year accomplishments and reviews the status of many of the projects identified in the Vision 2025 plan. The 2007 report should be ready in April 2008.

This is the detailed version, with plans for all of the focus areas. This also includes the "list of projects." The Vision is constantly evolving, so many of the visions have changed slightly in the three years since the Vision was presented. As a matter of fact, this vision is almost outdated.

Education Weekly Reader is Back. Every week we collect articles written about education in Greenville and compile them into the "Education Weekly Reader."
Upstate Growth Projections. Upstate Forever just released a study conducted by Clemson which projects the growth patterns in the Upstate. If we don't plan for our future, we are going to be in a mess.
Who Represents You. We have prepared a list of Greenville County elected officials with addresses. Have a concern? Callor write them. Thinking about running for office. This is your competition. Click for a printer friendly version.
Greenville Magazine Vision Voice. For the first year and a half, Greenville Magazine and the Cliffs published monthly articles related to Vision 2025. They provide a concise, yet complete description of many Greenville Forward initiatives. We have compiled them all into one document.
Market Street "Greenville Economic Development Strategy." Download the executive summary to understand how all the economic development organizations in the Upstate are working together.
Greenville's Special Places Inventory. Upstate Forever conducted a study to identify the Upstate's special assets.
Greenville Health Assessment Survey. Over 1,800 Greenvillians were surveyed to discover that almost one-third of the county is "medically underserved." Greenville Forward's Executive Director, Russell Stall conducted this study. We are working now to update this study by the middle of 2008.
Woolpert Study of Greenville's Park Plan. The "Woolpert Study" is a heavily quoted study outlining needs in the county for parks and green spaces.
