In October 2008, we presented the findings from the third Greenville County Health Assessment inthe last ten years. Over the last ten years, wehave collected over 4,800 telephone interviews and tracked the trends in the health of Greenvillians. Objectives of the study include:
- Reevaluate Greenville County trends in health status and health and wellness indicators.
- Reevaluate access to health care and assess the status of the medically underserved in Greenville County.
- Document the progress in closing the underserved gap.
- Prioritize where key resources should be focused.
- Reevaluate challenges and barriers that local businesses have in providing insurance to employees. Forward, in partnership with the United Way of Greenville, Greenville Hospital System, Bon Secours St. Francis Health, Piedmont Healthcare Foundation, and the SC Business Coalition for Health is conducting a study of the status of health of Greenvillians.

Download the reports which we will present to the community. In the meantime, some preliminary reports include:
- Study Background. These are the foundations of the current report.
- Greenville Demographics. Greenville demographic profile is changing. We are growing, becoming older, and becoming more mixed culturally and racially.
- Death and Disease. The primary differences with disease rates are the increase in the cost of heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.
- Health and Wellness. Greenvillians have many choices in improving the general health of the community. Our waistlines are growing, as is our cholesterol levels. While many of our health problems are preventable, we continue to behave in unhealthy ways.
- Healthcare Access. The number of medically underserved and the uninsured continues to grow in Greenville.
